Dig Deeper Into Your Fixed Ops Digital Toolbox

Vehicle technology has evolved from mechanical systems to software-driven machines. Today’s vehicles run on sensors, diagnostics and over-the-air updates. Maintenance isn’t just wrenches and oil changes; it’s code, data and precision tools. Staying ahead means staying up to date.
The same could be said for dealership software.
When users grow comfortable with a process, like managing deals or repair orders, they often overlook system updates that could simplify or improve their day to day.
We Crave Change but Reject the Learning Curve
So, what happens when your team overlooks the tools and enhancements already built into their system but outside their muscle memory? These are features that are designed to streamline workflows enhance efficiency and keep pace with industry evolution. Instead of embracing modern updates, they stick to “the way we’ve always done it,” unaware that the solutions they need are right at their fingertips.
The auto industry is racing forward with smarter tech, connected diagnostics, AI-driven service recommendations — even real-time tracking — but these advancements mean nothing if teams refuse to use them.

CDK Fixed Operations Latest Updates
Innovation moves fast. Every new release brings opportunities, tools and improvements that might not feel intuitive because it's not how they’ve always worked. Even this blog may spur someone to check out what’s new today, but will they remember to make the workflow routine? The truth is: The best way to stay ahead is to lean in, adapt and keep learning.
If your Fixed Ops team hasn’t checked in with CDK’s resources over the past few months, here’s a sample of updates they’ve missed:
New Vehicle History Search Tool
When reviewing a vehicle's service history in the modernized Scheduling service, you can now use partial descriptions of services to search previous repair orders. Terms such as "transmission" or "catalytic" can be used to find past ROs that include these types of services.
In addition to making more informed upsell recommendations, you can also more easily check for comebacks.
Keep Up With Comebacks
Comebacks can now be more easily tracked and prioritized in the modern Scheduling service. Lines that include a comeback service can now be prominently marked on the work order.
A new Comeback field on the Add Services page gives you the option to flag the service as one that was recently completed but needs to be revisited. A red COMEBACK indicator is added to the service's line in the Appointment Summary panel.
Delay Rolling an Appointment to an RO
You can now pause the progress of an appointment in modernized Scheduling if it isn’t ready to be rolled to an RO.
Typically, when reviewing appointments for the day, any appointments that aren’t in the Working or No Show statuses can be rolled into an RO. But if you aren’t ready to roll the appointment for any reason, you can now press the Pause button in the footer of the Roll to RO page to put it on hold.
After the button is pressed, an orange indicator appears on the appointment's listing on the Scheduling homepage.
Stay on top of updates and releases.
