Good Ol’Google – The Latest Google Business Listings Update

Yes, we mean this latest change from Google is all goodness for your business listings.  Remember when you’d search for your dealership on Google, only to have old, outdated or even the wrong photos show up in the knowledge graph portion of the search results?  You’d spent all that time making sure your business listing was correct; only to have no control over what photos represented your dealership.  Well Google just upgraded their “My Business Photo” section that resolves this problem and we’re excited to share it with you.
Google officially made the announcement this week, on February 24th:

“When it comes to attracting new customers, photos can both entice customers to your business when they’re browsing online and give customers confidence that they’ve come to the right place. Starting today, you can tell us which image you’d like to appear when customers search for your business on Google. Just log in to Google My Business on the web, and visit the Photos section. While you’re there, you can also give your business a fresh look online by updating your profile, logo and cover photos.”

For differentiating your dealership, this is huge!  Now you have the power to control what is shown in the search results, customize your brand, and showcase what makes your dealership unique.
To start using this feature, sign into your Google My Business account and click on the photos.
You can now indicate to Google which photo you would like to have shown in the knowledge graph, and while there are no 100% guarantees, this is the first time you have been able to tell Google what you want shown. This is the chance to show customers everything you want them to know about your dealership, so think about uploading photos of your salesroom, service bays, kid’s plays areas and things that make your dealership special! This user generated library is where Google will start to pull photos from to display in the search results. On a branded mobile search, you typically get one photo to represent your dealership in the search results, so this is now a chance to put your best photo out there for customers!
The two new additions to the photo section are the ability to add team photos and product photos.

This is a great way to allow customers to get to know your individual employees and highlight the models you want to promote as well as any new models as they launch.
The possibilities are now endless to share what’s going on at your dealership, photo by photo! So if you have been putting off new photos of your dealership or staff, now is the time to get that project started!
